Last month I was in D.C. for a prisoner reentry conference and had a little “down time” to play and visit. I love history and politics, and D.C. is full of both. However, the highlight of the trip was visiting a small coffee shop/church called Ebenezer’s. This a plant of National Community Church pastured by Mark Batterson (author of In a Pit With A Lion on A Snowy Day, and Wild Goose Chase). What I love most was how out of the box Ebenezer’s is. I mean gourmet coffee and church in a relaxing environment, what CREATIVITY! (Some of his other church plants are meeting in movie theaters). I also love the fact that doing something like Ebenezer’s took incredible risk/danger and overcoming a lot of “nay sayers”. The building was at one time a crack house. This goes to prove that God’s will is not an insurance policy. He will call us into the danger.
